India might be a cricket-crazy country, but there’s something Indians love more than cricket – it is Bollywood. At least that’s the indication of the Google’s Zeitgeist, which is the search engine company’s barometer for hot searches for 2010.
In the Google Zeitgeist list of fastest rising people in 2010 in India, Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif fared better at number 7 than India’s favourite cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar at number 8. Interestingly, Katrina Kaif was the most searched person in India in 2009.
In the list, mostly dominated by Bollywood actors, Salman Khan was at number 10, while his co-star in Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha secured a very high position, at number 2, higher than Shakira, Lady Gaga and Zarine Khan (Katrina Kaif look alike). The list, mostly dominated by women, was topped by Aruna Shields, in the country famous for its conservative traditions.
The Google list for most popular movies was led by Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori starred Kites, followed by Endhiran and Dabangg.
The most popular brands were mostly technology companies, led by Nokia, Samsung and Airtel.
In the world’s second-most populous country, the most How-To searched term was “How To Get Pregnant.” This was followed by “How To Kiss”, and “How to Impress A Girl”.
